The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge, as a file

What CMS stood up

The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge is a time-limited demonstration. Dates: 1 July 2026 through 31 December 2027. Patient pay: $50 per month. Products: Wegovy injection, Wegovy pill, Foundayo, Zepbound KwikPen.

It is not a finding that obesity drugs are now standard Part D. It is not plan enrollment. VitalHound is not affiliated with CMS and does not determine eligibility.

Who the processor will look at

Part D or MA-PD. Generally no GLP-1 already filled through Part D in 2026. A BMI tier that matches published screens. A prescriber-submitted PA. A listed product-device pair.

Indications CMS treats as ordinary Part D — type 2 diabetes, moderate-to-severe OSA, MASH — stay off this path.

What the $50 is not

Not deductible credit. Not TrOOP. Not Extra Help. Not a commercial savings card. Not a 2028 benefit.

If the demonstration is the wrong or closed path

Part D for covered indications. Manufacturer cash (often $149–$299). Commercial-plus-card ~$25 only for commercial members. Telehealth ~$449 is usually the expensive panic buy.

Questions

Can I apply by myself?
No. A licensed clinician submits prior authorization.
Does every Medicare Advantage plan 'have Bridge'?
You need an MA-PD (or PDP) as the Part D home. That is not the same as the MA plan covering obesity drugs on its own formulary.
Is $50 guaranteed if my BMI is high?
No. Eligibility screens and a PA still apply. Self-reported BMI is not the chart.
When does it end?
31 December 2027, unless CMS publishes an extension.
