Meaning

Extra Help, also called the Low-Income Subsidy (LIS), is a Medicare program that reduces Part D costs for people who meet income and resource rules.

Where it works

Part D (including the drug benefit inside an MA-PD) for covered claims. That can matter for a GLP-1 billed for type 2 diabetes, moderate-to-severe OSA, or MASH.

Where it does not work

Bridge $50. Manufacturer cash. Commercial savings cards. Plan exclusions.

Common error

Hearing 'I have Extra Help' and assuming obesity demonstration fills are free or $50-minus-LIS.
